Project Overview:
The City of Englewood approached Em Dub Design to help renovate and revitalize Bates/Logan Park, a neighborhood park dating back to the early 1970’s. The city intended to pursue an Arapahoe County Open Space grant to fund the project and knew Em Dub Design brought expertise in helping win such grants for the city in the past.
After reviewing needs and goals with the city, the team decided to proceed with a master plan design process which would identify the improvements and phases for pursuing sequential open space grants. Key upgrades and improvements identified for the park included updated irrigation; replacement of restroom, shelter, and playground; increased pedestrian circulation from entry points; entrance enhancement; and increased picnicking opportunities.
With city priorities identified, Em Dub Design then facilitated an open house-style public meeting where stakeholders of all ages and backgrounds provided valuable input. A “natural constructed”
approach was ultimately selected for the park renovations and phase one would focus on a new restroom and shelter.
The project was awarded grants in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Construction of Phase 1 was completed Spring 2024 and Phase 2 and 3 completed in Summer 2025.
